Dusting Off Old Equipment
Posted by: Fnx Thursday, 26 Jul 2007 - 15:15:52 PST
Last week I spent 3 days repacking all of my 2600 hardware and games and then had all of said boxes placed in a bigger box and steel banded shut before putting them back in to semi-permanent storage. I didn't want to see them go, but sacrifices had to be made before I could tear into my 5200 collection. There is always something innately interesting about unpacking hardware that is almost as old as you are... The old cardboard smell... The opening of age old plastic bags... The disintegration of spongy old numeric pads and fire buttons... Needless to say I need new 5200 controllers. But as soon as they show up I will be back in action!

Also, thanks go out to Thomas for correcting my somewhat incorrect 2600 technical specs.

I'm Back!!!

Sorry for the lack of updates these last two months... Been super busy catching up on real life (work, work and um... more work) and even taking a semi-vacation to see my little bro' get married (good luck by the way!). With all the big things now out of the way and summer (it is officially summer now isn't it?) in full swing it is time to get back to my to addictions... Anime and Games!

In The Beginning...

I often get asked what originally turned me on to Japanese Animation. And while I would love to say Robotech, that would only be a half truth. Robotech is in actuality three different Japanese features woven together through the story telling genius of Carl Macek and lumped into one gigantically long, nationally syndicated series for American television. So when it comes down to naming that one anime which sent me down this path of otaku self destruction, I can breath only one word... Gunbuster!

Tieing Up Loose Ends

Wow has it really been four months since I started reviewing Gunbuster?!?
It's a good thing that I have been busy finishing up a few things here and a ton of things over at LordBane's site or everyone would think I am nothing but a lazy bum. Now I'm not completely done with Gunbuster quite yet... But here is the last installment of a series that belongs in everyone's, and I do mean everyone's, collection!

The First Journey Nears Its End

It's been one hell of a ride these last three to four years. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that it would take me this long to review nearly all of the 2600 games that I could get my hands on. Truth of the matter is, I'm rather happy that I can start moving on to different systems once again as the 2600 was really starting to drag me down near the end there. Sure I still have eight games that I am looking for but until I find them here are the last of the 2600 game reviews:

  Warplock
  Word Zapper
  Worm War I
  Xenophobe

Of course I may still do a few hardware reviews... Then again, maybe not.
